About

Hello, I'm Nikki. Teacher, co-owner of a tiny vintage shop, play advocate, crafter, thrifter, pyrex collector, animal rescuer, musician, amateur photographer, mama to the sweetest little boy, and partner to the love of my life. We live in Toronto, Canada with our little Westie Lola, our cat Charlie, and our two chinchillas named Rory and Lenore. We married in June of 2012, and after a several year long struggle with infertility welcomed our first child, Joshua (we sometimes call him Birdie or the Bird, as he was known before he came earth side).

I am the child of a crafty mama with crafty friends who had crafty children, so it followed that I would love to craft too. I love to make something from nothing, figure out patterns in my head (which you will sometimes get in the form of tutorials), and work with my hands to unwind at the end of each day. Crafting is my outlet and I'm sure makes me a much nicer person to be around.

The Pyrex love started many years back while browsing an antique mall. We had Pyrex mixing bowls in our home growing up, but it wasn't until I found two little pink and white gooseberry patterned disehs that I was hooked. Over the next several years my collection grew and grew. The Pyrex was also a gateway into a world of vintage lovelies. I guess you could say that this is what inspired me to start my Etsy shop, Lolie Jane Vintage, and later a vintage booth with my dear friend Lucy, Lulu and Lolie. I love 'rescuing' a beautiful vintage piece with potential, fixing a seam or two, replacing buttons, working out stains, and sharing these beautiful pieces with others.

This blog was originally a place to document my craft projects, but it has grown into so much more. I started this blog to share and connect with others, and have found some wonderful friends along the way. Welcome, and enjoy!
